LEVER OR PEDAL HARP LESSONS

Private instruction is available on folk and pedal harp with teacher, Claudia Place.

About Claudia Place

Ms. Place studied at Boston University and Westminster Choir College and privately with Marjorie Hartzell and Elizabeth Huntley. She has performed in a variety of sacred and secular venues. An experienced music teacher, she has taught in public and private schools and churches as well as privately.

Ms. Place studied with Alice Parker, composer and arranger for the Robert Shaw Chorale. She was also a church organist and music director for many years. With a real sense of "what works" in the different musical venues, Ms. Place has arranged numerous ensemble and solo harp pieces, filling the many needs of the "harp world".

Ms. Place founded "The Harpsicle Kids", a local group of nine children ages five through seven, who learned to "pull strings" on small, 26 string, colorfull harps called Harpsicles. Ms. Place also leads a group of adult harpers who perform locally at assisted living and nursing homes.

Currently, along with her private teaching studio, Ms. Place is teaching harp at The Emma Willard School in Troy, NY. She continues to compose and write arrangements for solo and ensemble harp.
